Tucker Carlson Caught Backstabbing Trump
In November 2020, Tucker Carlson, who used to host shows on Fox News, sent a text message to anchor Bret Baier expressing his worries that former President Trump might put the blame on the network in case of losing the election.
In transcript provided by The Hill, Carlson wrote to Baier, “See if there’s any way I could help calm viewers down. When Trump loses, he’s going to blame us. That’s going to be very bad.”
According to reports, these messages are apparently among the redacted court documents in Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit against Fox News. In these messages, the two Fox News figures discuss the negative reaction that the network received following their decision to call Arizona for President Biden.
Carlson further wrote, “I continue to think the company isn’t taking [this] seriously enough. We need to do something to reassure our core audience. They’re our whole business model.”
Baier responded, “We have been pushing for answers. I have pressed them to slow. And I think they will slow walk Nevada. The votes don’t come in until tomorrow.”
As per the accounts of Peter Baker from The New York Times and Susan Glasser from The New Yorker in their book published last year, Bret Baier had sent an email on November 5, 2020, urging Fox News to retract its call for Arizona. Additionally, it was previously reported that the Fox Decision Desk was prevented from calling Nevada for President Biden.
In response to Baier’s remarks about Nevada, Carlson reportedly said, “Please let me know if they don’t seem to be obeying. We could really f— up a lot of what we’ve built.”
“I’ve got four more years here,” Carlson added. “I’m stuck with Fox. Got to do whatever I can to keep our numbers up and our viewers happy.”
Fox News released a statement highlighting that it “maintained its confidence in the Arizona call despite facing significant scrutiny.”
The network stated that “considering the very slim margin of only 0.3% and a novel projection methodology that was unique to our network, it is unsurprising that there were evaluations held post the decision, regardless of the candidates involved.”
