Will Democrats Lose The Senate In 2024?

Biden Intentionally Sabotages U.S.

On Monday, the White House made a statement that President Biden would reject a border security bill led by the GOP in case it got approved by the Congress.

In transcript provided by Fox, the White House said, “While we welcome Congress’ engagement on meaningful steps to address immigration and the challenges at the border, this bill would make things worse, not better. Because this bill does very little to actually increase border security while doing a great deal to trample on the Nation’s core values and international obligations, it should be rejected.”

Republican Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart from Florida and Tom McClintock from California are sponsoring a bill that proposes several measures to improve the management of mass migration at the southern border. The bill requires renewed efforts to construct a border wall, an increase in the number of border patrol agents, more financial incentives for them to carry out their duties, an end to catch and release policies, and other related initiatives.

President Biden’s veto pledge coincides with the expected expiration of the “Title 42” policies on Thursday, which enable border officials to restrict the entry of immigrants into the country as a measure to curb the transmission of COVID-19. To manage the expected influx of migrants, the President plans to deploy 1,500 troops to the border.

The White House has raised concerns about the GOP immigration bill and provided extensive criticisms, stating that it would impede access to almost all humanitarian protections, which are essential and are in line with the country’s values and international obligations. According to the White House, the bill could also hinder the effectiveness of mobile technology used to process noncitizens seeking asylum, including those from Ukraine. Additionally, the bill lacks adequate funds for local initiatives aimed at managing mass migration, which is another concern highlighted by the White House.

As per the White House, the Biden-Harris Administration’s approach to border management is based on expanding legal pathways and imposing stricter consequences for illegal pathways, ensuring safe, orderly, and humane border processing. The administration’s strategy aims to address the root causes of migration, increase humanitarian protections, and promote lawful pathways as essential alternatives to illegal entry. However, the White House contends that H.R. 2 does not tackle the root causes of migration, diminishes humanitarian protections, and restricts lawful pathways, which are crucial alternatives to unlawful entry.
