Republicans Walk Away From Trump
It has now been learned that a number of Senate Republicans are now stepping out of the way of the Jan. 6 committee after they recommended for President Biden’s Justice Department to prosecute former President Donald Trump for alleged crimes he may have committed on the day of the Capitol riot.
According to The Hill, a number of Republican senators, especially the ones who have close ties with Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, have said that the Jan 6 Panel spoke to “credible” witnesses and have accomplished “significant” work.
Now these backstabbing Republicans and virtually all Democrats have put in the hands of Attorney General Merrick Garland and the DOJ to investigate or indict Donald Trump.
McConnell recently taunted former President Donald Trump and said, “The entire nation knows who is responsible for that day.”
This isn’t the only time McConnell tried to destroy Trump in February 2021, McConnell stated, “The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president.”
What’s worse is that Republican Senate Minority Whip John Thune simply stated, “It’s up to Justice now.”
Republican Sen. Rob Portman abandoned Trump as well and said, “I think the referrals are not as important as the report. The report’s important, even though it came out of a partisan process.”
“But the testimony is the testimony, and they were able to get the testimony from most of the people they wanted — not everybody but most — and I think most of the significant figures. That is the historical record. That’s very important,” Portman added.
