Should Biden Retaliate After Russia Downed U.S. Drone?

Trump’s Message To Hospitalized McConnell

During a campaign event on Monday, former President Donald Trump labeled Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell as “a disaster,” only a few hours after the Senate minority leader was discharged from the hospital.

According to reports from The New York Times, 81-year-old McConnell was hospitalized on Wednesday after he fell and suffered a concussion at a reception for the Senate Leadership Fund in Washington, D.C. His spokesperson, David Popp, noted that McConnell’s concussion is healing well and that he will move to a physical rehabilitation center before returning to Congress. Additionally, Popp stated that the senator is also undergoing treatment for a minor rib fracture.

In transcript provided by Newsweek, Trump held very little back and told a crowd of Republicans, “We do have to do something about Mitch McConnell.”

Trump then added, “He’s a disaster. He gets his 10 guys, and they give [President Joe] Biden whatever they want. There’s something going on. That doesn’t make sense. They get whatever they want.”

“We got to get him the hell out,” Trump then said. “He’s a problem, big problem. In the meantime, I hope he’s feeling well, but he’s a big problem.”

Since the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Trump’s previously amicable relationship with McConnell has deteriorated into a contentious feud. The former president seems to harbor resentment towards McConnell for his willingness to collaborate with President Joe Biden and Democratic lawmakers on bipartisan measures, such as the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill from 2021 and the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill that passed in December.

Several other Republicans, including Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is a staunch ally of Trump, have also joined in the former president’s criticism of McConnell. Greene previously criticized the minority leader’s endorsement of the omnibus spending package last year.
