VIDEO: Trump Apologizes To DeSantis?
Trump is a kind person when you decide to stop trying to take what’s his. Thankfully, DeSantis may have just learned his lesson and the two men can go back to working together once again.
On Sunday, former President Donald Trump officially retired the nickname “DeSanctimonious” that he had previously used for Ron DeSantis. This decision came in the wake of DeSantis’s withdrawal from the 2024 race for the Republican presidential nomination and his subsequent endorsement of Trump, as shared in a video by Trump aide Margo Martin on X.
DeSantis made the choice to suspend his campaign and support Trump just days before the New Hampshire primary, according to The Hill.
During a campaign stop in New Hampshire on Sunday, Trump responded to a reporter’s question about the fate of the “DeSanctimonious” nickname, stating that the name is officially retired.
The nickname originated during the 2022 midterms when there were speculations about DeSantis considering a GOP challenge to Trump. Despite DeSantis describing the name-calling as “petty” and “juvenile” last year, Trump continued to use it until the recent announcement.
On Sunday, DeSantis explained his endorsement of Trump, emphasizing his commitment to supporting the Republican nominee. He mentioned signing a pledge to honor that commitment and expressed his reluctance to return to what he termed the “old Republican guard of yesteryear,” criticizing a perceived return to a form of corporatism represented by Nikki Haley.
In response to DeSantis’s endorsement, Trump expressed his gratitude, stating to Fox Digital, “I am very honored to have the endorsement of DeSantis.”
