Journalist Says Trump Complaining About What?

Elon Musk’s influence on American politics has been undeniable, and as President-elect Donald Trump prepares for his second term, the relationship between the two has continued to raise eyebrows. According to Maggie Haberman of The New York Times, Trump has privately expressed discomfort with Musk’s frequent presence in his circles. Speaking on the On with Kara Swisher podcast, Haberman revealed that Trump has occasionally complained about Musk “being around a lot,” although Musk’s support for the Trump campaign has been far from subtle.

Musk has long been a vocal supporter of Trump, especially after the tragic assassination attempt against the president-elect in 2024, which led to Musk publicly doubling down on his endorsement. Beyond words, Musk took his support further by participating in rallies and even launching “America PAC,” a super PAC designed to help propel Trump’s campaign forward. Haberman notes that Musk has essentially positioned himself as a constant presence in Trump’s orbit. “He really parked himself in Trump’s face,” she remarked, hinting that the close relationship could evolve in unexpected ways once Trump returns to the White House.

One of the key roles Musk is expected to play in the next administration is heading up the newly proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Trump has outlined plans to use this department to streamline government operations by slashing redundant regulations and restructuring federal agencies. Musk, alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, would lead efforts to make the federal government more efficient, serving as an outside advisor while working closely with the White House Office of Management and Budget.

In the eyes of some, the creation of DOGE could become a monumental project, potentially as significant as the Manhattan Project during World War II. Trump himself has called the department’s objectives long-sought goals of Republican leaders. While Haberman has suggested Musk won’t be moving into the Lincoln Bedroom anytime soon, it’s clear that he will continue to maintain a close and influential relationship with the Trump administration. For many Republicans, Musk’s involvement could be seen as a pivotal moment in the battle to restore American greatness.
