Will Trump Be Weak On Putin Like Europe Says?

Sanders Reveals How Trump Won

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., recently advised Democrat lawmakers to reconsider their approach to criticizing President Donald Trump, emphasizing that Trump’s success in the White House is a direct result of a flawed political system. In a revealing interview with The New York Times, Sanders shared his thoughts on the state of American politics, highlighting the dysfunction within both major parties and the way it has enabled figures like Trump to gain traction.

Sanders, who has built his political career on challenging the status quo, pointed out that during his 2020 presidential campaign, he warned about the power of the entrenched political elite. Despite his outsider status and lack of initial name recognition, Sanders managed to secure victories in 23 states. His message, he argued, resonated with voters who were fed up with the corruption and complacency of the political establishment, including both Democrats and Republicans.

He criticized lawmakers in both parties for failing to prioritize the working class, allowing powerful figures like tech mogul Elon Musk to gain disproportionate influence. While he refrained from directly naming Democratic mega-donors like George Soros, Sanders lamented the role of billionaires in exacerbating the broken political system, blaming their influence on the deepening divide between the wealthy elite and everyday Americans.

As for Trump, Sanders acknowledged that the president capitalized on the fact that the system is fundamentally flawed. Although Sanders disagrees with many of Trump’s policy fixes, he recognizes that Trump’s appeal lies in his ability to tap into the frustrations of ordinary citizens with a system that often works against them. Sanders also expressed concern that any “repairs” to the system made by the Trump administration might worsen the situation.

At 83 years old, Sanders has no plans to run for president in 2028. Instead, he is focusing on reaching out to moderate Republicans, particularly in swing districts, to advocate for policies that benefit the working class. Sanders sees this as an opportunity to bridge the divide between the parties on issues like tax cuts and healthcare.

Despite his progressive stance, Sanders remained loyal to President Joe Biden throughout the 2024 election cycle, citing his support for the working class as a key reason for his unwavering backing. For Sanders, it is clear that the political system needs significant reform, and he believes that both parties need to heed the concerns of everyday Americans if they hope to reclaim the trust of voters.
