Is Trump Pushing His Executive Powers Too Far?

DeSantis’ Wife To Run For Governor?

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has set the record straight, putting to rest growing rumors that his wife, Casey DeSantis, might run for the governorship in 2026. During a recent interview on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, Governor DeSantis addressed the speculation, explaining that Casey has no plans to seek the office.

“It’s not something that she’s seeking out,” DeSantis clarified. “I think a lot of people are just concerned about the future of the state, but this is not anything new. People have been asking her to do this for a long time, but she’s not pursuing it. It’s flattering that people are asking, but that’s not her focus.”

While some have speculated about Casey’s potential candidacy, the idea has gained traction among some conservative circles. A poll from Florida Atlantic University and Mainstreet Research in April showed that 38% of Republican voters in Florida would support Casey in a hypothetical primary match-up. Despite the public interest, DeSantis reassured everyone that his wife, a former news anchor, remains committed to her role as a mother and wife, particularly raising their three children.

Governor DeSantis praised his wife’s resilience, pointing to her inspiring battle with cancer, which she overcame with strength and grace. “She’s one of the rare political spouses,” he remarked. “Even though I’m probably the most conservative governor in the country, she might actually be more conservative than I am.”

DeSantis also made it clear that he hasn’t discussed the rumors with former President Donald Trump, emphasizing that his wife is not seeking a political career at this time. With DeSantis term-limited in 2026, other potential candidates like Rep. Byron Donalds and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson have been mentioned as possible contenders for the governor’s seat.

For now, Florida Republicans can rest assured that Casey DeSantis has no intention of running for the state’s highest office—at least not in the upcoming election cycle.
