Biden Shocks Room With Brazen Confession
During a private fundraising event in California, President Biden surprised a group of U.S. officials by openly discussing sensitive information about a Chinese spy balloon. He reportedly informed the approximately 130 attendees that Chinese President Xi Jinping was embarrassed when the U.S. intercepted the balloon, which contained significant amounts of espionage equipment, off the coast of South Carolina in February.
According to the New York Times, which cited an anonymous source, U.S. officials present at the event were taken aback by the president’s remarks. The authenticity of Biden’s comments was confirmed by the same source. In his speech, Biden even referred to Xi as a dictator, a statement that provoked anger among Chinese officials.
In transcript provided by Fox, Biden shockingly stated, “The reason why Xi Jinping got very upset in terms of when I shot that balloon down with two boxcars full of spy equipment in it is he didn’t know it was there. No, I’m serious. That’s a great embarrassment for dictators when they didn’t know what happened.”
When questioned about the president’s decision to disclose this sensitive information at a high-profile fundraising event, the Pentagon directed inquiries to the White House, which has yet to respond. Biden’s 2024 campaign also did not provide a comment on whether it was appropriate for such information, seemingly undisclosed by the intelligence community, to be shared at a campaign event.
This incident occurred shortly after Biden expressed his view that the spy balloon incident was more embarrassing than intentional for China during Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to the country. The president stated that China faced legitimate difficulties unrelated to the United States, suggesting that the Chinese leadership was unaware of the balloon’s location, contents, and activities.
China responded strongly to Biden’s comments, claiming that they severely infringed upon their political dignity. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning described the U.S. remarks as extremely absurd and irresponsible, characterizing them as a blatant political provocation. China expressed strong dissatisfaction and opposition to Biden’s statements.
