Biden Receives Slap In The Face By Top Democrat
Democratic Representative Dean Phillips of Minnesota received the endorsement of former 2020 presidential candidate Andrew Yang on Thursday dealing a massive blow to President Biden’s 2024 re-election run. Yang, addressing voters in New Hampshire, emphasized the need to move beyond the anticipated Biden vs. Trump rematch, describing it as an undesirable prospect. Although Phillips, a moderate Minnesotan, is considered a long shot for the Democratic presidential nomination, both he and Yang were actively campaigning in New Hampshire ahead of the January 23 primary.
The collaboration between the two men was evident at an event held at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire. Yang took the opportunity to introduce Phillips and discuss the current political landscape. Yang highlighted the decisions of Democratic leaders like California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker to refrain from entering the presidential race, citing President Biden’s bid for reelection.
Yang urged potential presidential candidates to seize the moment, stating that only one individual prioritized the country over personal aspirations. He proudly endorsed Dean Phillips as the next President of the United States. Reflecting on his involvement in campaigning for Biden in 2020, Yang acknowledged the challenges faced in the past four years and asserted that Biden, though a good man and public servant, is not the right candidate for 2024.
Yang pointed to Biden’s age and the difficulties associated with reinventing an 81-year-old leader. He expressed concerns about the demanding nature of campaigning for Biden, particularly in comparison to the challenges faced by the person poised to take on Donald Trump. Yang cited polls indicating Biden’s declining approval and emphasized the need for a candidate who resonates with voters.
In advocating for Phillips, Yang asserted that he is not beholden to special interests dominating politics and embodies qualities desired by most Americans, especially independents who play a crucial role in elections. He concluded by stating that Phillips is the candidate who will not only meet the expectations of the American people but also secure victory in the upcoming elections.
