Hollywood Star Cancelled For Supporting Trump?
Zachary Levi, the actor best known for his role in Shazam!, recently spoke out about the potential consequences of his decision to publicly endorse former President Donald Trump’s 2024 White House bid. Despite initially predicting that supporting Trump might lead to his career’s downfall in the notoriously liberal Hollywood, Levi says the backlash hasn’t been as severe as he expected.
In an appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, Levi joked, “I hope I haven’t been canceled yet,” acknowledging that his political endorsement could have made him a target for Hollywood’s left-wing elite. When Maher mentioned the possibility of Levi being “canceled” for his support of Trump, the actor shrugged it off with his typical good humor: “If it happens, it happens.”
Levi, who had previously backed Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s independent bid for the 2024 presidency, made his Trump endorsement official in September at a Michigan rally. He was candid about the potential risks of his decision, acknowledging the deeply liberal nature of Hollywood and saying, “This very well could constitute career suicide.” However, despite his concerns, he’s found that his career hasn’t taken a hit.
During the podcast, Levi revealed that none of his current or upcoming projects have been canceled, despite what he had anticipated. “Not any of my producers or any studio making these films or projects have reached out to me and said, ‘Hey, listen, this is a line too far,’” he explained.
While he remains unsure of the long-term consequences, Levi isn’t backing down. “I have yet to see what the ultimate effects of all that are going to be,” he said, acknowledging that the future of his career could still be uncertain.
Levi’s experience serves as a reminder that standing by your principles—especially in an industry as politically polarized as Hollywood—can come with significant risks. Yet, for Levi, it seems his commitment to his beliefs may not be the career-killer that many predicted.
