Lindsey Graham Reveals Trump’s Top Priority
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) recently emphasized that securing the southern border should be the top priority for the Senate Budget Committee, calling for swift action on a border security bill through the budget reconciliation process.
In a statement posted to X, Graham expressed his full support for the idea that Congress should focus on border security first and foremost. He echoed the sentiments of Stephen Miller, a key advisor to former President Donald Trump, who has long advocated for using the budget reconciliation process to pass comprehensive border security measures. Graham agreed with Miller’s call, stating, “While I support tax cuts and spending limits, my primary concern—and the Senate Budget Committee’s first priority—is to secure our broken border.”
Graham went on to describe the border security bill as a “transformational” measure that would be fully funded and lead the legislative agenda. His comments came after Miller appeared on Fox News, urging congressional Republicans to enact a funding package that would significantly enhance border security. According to Miller, this package would include funding for an expanded border patrol, military support for operations, and additional resources for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Miller emphasized that while border security has been a topic of debate for decades, the Trump administration’s policies will ensure it is a top priority going forward. “This will be the most important domestic policy achievement in half a century,” he declared.
Graham’s remarks align with his previous statements after the election, where he promised that if Republicans retained control of the House, they would push forward with budget reconciliation—a legislative tool that allows them to bypass the typical 60-vote threshold in the Senate and pass key measures with a simple majority. For Republicans, securing the border isn’t just a priority; it’s a matter of national security and American sovereignty.
