Trump Gets His Own Holiday
Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) has introduced new legislation aimed at making President Donald Trump’s birthday, June 14, an official public holiday. Dubbed the “Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day Holiday Establishment Act,” this bill would designate both President Trump’s birthday and Flag Day, which falls on the same day, as federal holidays.
In a statement on the social media platform X, Tenney argued that just as George Washington’s birthday is honored with a federal holiday, so too should President Trump’s birthday. She referred to Trump as the “founder of America’s Golden Age,” emphasizing his significant impact on the nation’s prosperity and strength during his presidency. “It is only fitting that President Trump’s birthday be celebrated alongside Flag Day to acknowledge his lasting contributions to the greatness of America,” Tenney wrote.
The legislation highlights the growing movement within the Republican Party to celebrate and honor the Trump presidency. Over the past years, Trump has become a central figure for many conservatives, symbolizing a strong, prosperous America built on the “America First” agenda.
Tenney’s introduction of the bill follows other efforts by GOP members to solidify Trump’s legacy. For instance, Rep. Addison McDowell (R-N.C.) recently introduced legislation to rename Washington Dulles International Airport after Trump. This proposal is part of a broader trend among Republicans to ensure that Trump’s achievements are permanently recognized. Additionally, Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) introduced a bill to rename Greenland to “Red, White, and Blueland,” referencing Trump’s previous interest in acquiring the island.
Rep. Tenney’s bill to make Trump’s birthday an official holiday is a powerful statement, reinforcing the idea that his presidency should be celebrated for its commitment to the American people and the values of liberty, strength, and national pride that Trump championed.
