Kamala Says Foreign Leaders Respect Biden, Is This True?

Democrats Panic Over Trump’s Meeting With Speaker Johnson

Democrats hated this!

In a recent statement, Democrat Representative Eric Swalwell of California criticized the joint press conference held by former President Donald Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana as “absurd,” particularly in light of the indictments facing Trump related to alleged interference in the 2020 election.

Swalwell expressed his incredulity during an appearance on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” likening the situation to receiving a lecture on bank security from infamous criminals Bonnie and Clyde. He emphasized the irony of Trump and Johnson discussing election integrity given their efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

During the press conference at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, Speaker Johnson highlighted proposed legislation aimed at preventing illegal voting by noncitizens. However, Swalwell dismissed the initiative, pointing out that existing laws, such as the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, already prohibit foreign nationals from voting in federal elections. While some jurisdictions permit noncitizens to vote in local elections, Swalwell argued that the legislation presented at the conference was redundant and unnecessary.

The timing of the joint appearance coincided with internal strife within the Republican Party, with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia calling for Johnson’s removal as Speaker, citing concerns about his fitness to lead. Former President Trump voiced his support for Johnson during the press conference, praising his performance despite the challenging circumstances. This endorsement from Trump could bolster Johnson’s position, according to Representative Ralph Norman of South Carolina, who suggested that Trump’s backing would lend credibility to Johnson’s leadership, particularly within the House Freedom Caucus.
