According to officials, a young man from Missouri, aged 19, has been implicated in a case involving driving a truck into barriers near the White House. The individual in question has reportedly made statements that indicate his intention to cause harm to the president, leading investigators to believe his motives were malicious.

According to NBC, U.S. Park Police disclosed on Tuesday morning that the driver involved in the incident was identified as Sai Varshith Kandula from Chesterfield.

At approximately 10 p.m. Eastern Time, a white U-Haul box truck collided with the barriers located on the north side of Lafayette Square, in close proximity to the White House.

According to a representative from the Secret Service, the charges against Kandula are related to alleged threats he made towards the president, vice president, or their family members. These charges are based on statements he reportedly made to various law enforcement agencies.

The ongoing investigation into the incident involves multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Secret Service, United States Park Police, the FBI, and U.S. Capitol Police. As part of this investigation, the suspect was interviewed by Secret Service investigators on Monday night, according to the agency representative.

In addition to the aforementioned charges, Kandula has also been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and trespassing.

Authorities have reported that the initial investigation suggests Kandula deliberately drove his vehicle into the bollards positioned outside Lafayette Park. Furthermore, law enforcement officials discovered a Nazi flag at the scene of the incident and subsequently seized it.

There were no injuries due to this incident.

According to a law enforcement official who spoke to NBC News, the suspect made threatening statements regarding the White House at the scene of the incident. However, authorities swiftly apprehended the individual. The official mentioned that upon inspection, no weapons or explosives were found within the truck. Unfortunately, no further details regarding the incident were provided.

When asked for their response, the official expressed their disapproval, stating, “I don’t think there’s any place for a Nazi flag or the statements that he made.”
