Don Lemon Gets His Job Back At CNN?

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon made his return to the network on Monday night after a lengthy hiatus. Lemon had been dismissed from CNN last year following controversial remarks about former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, and allegations of inappropriate behavior toward female colleagues. His comeback featured a discussion with anchor Erin Burnett, who expressed enthusiasm about his return.

During his appearance on “Erin Burnett OutFront,” Lemon addressed the issue of gun violence in the U.S., including the recent attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life. Lemon criticized both Republicans and Democrats for failing to enact effective gun control measures. He suggested that if lawmakers were serious about addressing this issue, they should propose a bill specifically named the “Protect Donald Trump Gun and Safety Act” to push it through Congress.

Lemon also took the opportunity to critique Trump and his Republican allies for their accusations that Democrats exacerbate national dangers with their rhetoric. He highlighted Trump’s history of derogatory nicknames for CNN and its reporters and advised Trump to cease his rhetoric against democracy if he wants to avoid being seen as a threat to it.

In addition to political commentary, Lemon discussed his new book, I Once Was Lost: My Search for God in America. In the book, Lemon argues that some evangelical Christians are attempting to transform the U.S. into a theocracy, expressing surprise at their support for Trump in the current election cycle.

Lemon had initially returned to CNN in March to discuss an interview he conducted with Elon Musk, in which he criticized Musk’s commitment to free speech. Lemon’s deal to start his own show on Musk’s platform, X, was ultimately canceled, leading him to file a lawsuit against Musk.

Reports emerged in February that Lemon had reached a separation agreement worth approximately $24.5 million with CNN, aligning with the terms of his final contract. However, CNN has disputed these claims, labeling them as inaccurate.
