Earthquake Rattles Trump Property

Here’s what we know so far…

Located in New Jersey, the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster found itself at the heart of a 4.8 magnitude earthquake that rippled across the tristate area on Friday morning. The seismic event, whose epicenter was near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, struck at 10:23 a.m. ET, less than seven miles northeast of the renowned golf club.

Initial reports suggest that the golf club may have been affected by the quake, though the extent of any potential damages remains uncertain. Concerns over the club’s condition prompted inquiries, with Newsweek reaching out to Trump National for further information.

The earthquake’s impact was felt far and wide, stretching from Philadelphia to New York and even reaching as far as Maryland and Massachusetts. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) estimated that over 42 million individuals experienced the tremors.

In response to the earthquake, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy activated the State Emergency Operations Center and urged residents to reserve 911 for genuine emergencies only. Meanwhile, New York Governor Kathy Hochul reassured the public that there were no immediate life-threatening situations or significant damages, though she cautioned about the possibility of aftershocks.

While the USGS stated a relatively low likelihood of casualties and damages, they also warned of a 46 percent chance of another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 or higher occurring within the next week. Despite these concerns, the National Tsunami Warning Center ruled out any danger of a tsunami along the East Coast following the earthquake.

For Trump’s New Jersey golf club, this seismic event adds to its storied history. Purchased by the former president in 2002, the club gained prominence as a frequent retreat for Trump during his presidency, earning it the moniker “Summer White House.” However, it’s not the first time the club has been thrust into the spotlight, as Trump’s visit in October 2020 coincided with his positive COVID-19 diagnosis shortly after a fundraising event held there.

As authorities assess the aftermath of the earthquake, attention turns to the resilience of structures like the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster and the readiness of communities across the tristate area to respond to such natural events.
