No Chance For Trump In 2024?
Mick Mulvaney, a former Trump official, holds the belief that Donald Trump is likely to secure the GOP nomination for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
However, during an interview with Sky News Australia on Tuesday, Mick Mulvaney, the former acting chief of staff in the Trump administration, expressed his prediction that Donald Trump will not emerge victorious in the general election.
In transcript provided by HuffPost, Mulvaney explained, “The Republican primary will be about Donald Trump and he will probably win. And then the general election will be about Donald Trump and he will probably lose.”
Mulvaney characterized Trump as a potent “turnout machine,” acknowledging his ability to motivate individuals to vote, whether in support or in opposition to him.
According to Mulvaney, the upcoming race will revolve around Trump himself, posing the fundamental question of whether people hold affection or disdain towards him. He further remarked that this scenario resembles a repetition of the dynamics witnessed in the 2020 election.
Mulvaney assumed the role of acting White House chief of staff from January 2019 to March 2020. During his tenure, he acknowledged the existence of a quid pro quo involving Trump and Ukraine, an incident that ultimately resulted in Trump’s first impeachment.
In addition to his position as acting White House chief of staff, Mulvaney held the roles of director of the Office of Management and Budget and special envoy to Northern Ireland. Following the January 6 Capitol riot, he made the decision to resign from the Trump administration.
Since then, Mulvaney has emerged as a vocal critic of his former boss, and it seems that the sentiment is mutual. Trump has publicly referred to Mulvaney as “perhaps the dumbest person, along with John Bolton, working at the White House,” further describing him as “uncharismatic” and “a born loser.”
