Are Americans Safer Under Republicans Than Democrats?

CNN Calls Biden Crazy

CNN analyst Harry Enten recently dismissed President Biden’s claims that he could have won the 2020 election had he stayed in the race, calling the idea “flat-out bonkers.” Enten made the comment during a video posted to X (formerly Twitter), responding to Biden’s recent interview with USA Today, where the president suggested that he could have secured victory over then-candidate Donald Trump if he had not dropped out early.

Biden’s remarks, made during an exit interview with USA Today, raised eyebrows. He claimed that his polling data indicated he had a viable path to victory against Trump, despite the fact that he had pulled out of the race before the Democratic primaries even began in earnest. However, Biden did not provide specifics about the polling he referenced, leading many, including Enten, to question the credibility of his assertions.

Enten, known for his data-driven analysis, did not mince words. “The bottom line is this: Joe Biden was always trailing behind. He was behind in polling, and most likely, he would have stayed behind,” Enten stated. He pointed out that Biden’s polling numbers were consistently lackluster, with Trump holding significant leads in key battleground states. This included states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, where Trump was ahead in all three according to polling at the time. Additionally, Trump led in several key southern and southwestern states such as North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona.

Enten’s analysis underscores a stark reality: Biden was never in a strong position to secure a victory in 2020, and his current claims about an alternative outcome appear disconnected from the facts. His exit from the race, largely due to concerns over his age and ability to effectively campaign, seems to have been the right decision—especially in light of the polling data from that time, which consistently showed Trump leading in the critical swing states that decide presidential elections.

For Republicans, these statements from Biden serve as further evidence of the lack of confidence in his campaign performance and the doubts surrounding his ability to lead the nation moving forward. It’s clear that Biden’s rhetoric does little to change the facts about his poor polling and the uphill battle he faces—both then and now.
