Warrant Issued For DeSantis?

The Texas, Bexar County Sheriff’s Department is suggesting pursuing legal charges against Florida and its Republican Governor, Ron DeSantis, due to their alleged involvement in transporting 49 unauthorized immigrants on a flight to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, in the previous year.

According to Newsmax, in a released statement, the sheriff’s office declared its recommendation of pressing charges against Florida and Governor Ron DeSantis for alleged “unlawful restraint” actions, encompassing both felony and misdemeanor charges. This recommendation follows an extensive investigation into the state’s actions during the mentioned incident.

In a statement from the Sheriff’s office, they explained, “The case filed includes both felony and misdemeanor charges of Unlawful Restraint. At this time, the case is being reviewed by the DA’s office. Once an update is available, it will be provided to the public.”

According to the report, the flights originating from San Antonio and bound for Martha’s Vineyard occurred in September 2022. The report further states that these flights were organized and funded by Florida’s illegal migrant relocation program.

After the incident, the sheriff’s office launched an investigation into the matter. The investigation revealed that the migrants remained on the upscale island for approximately 48 hours before being subsequently transported to a military base for housing.

During that time, critics alleged that the predominantly Venezuelan migrants were enticed with assurances of job opportunities upon their arrival in Massachusetts. These claims highlighted concerns about the circumstances surrounding the migrants’ relocation.

The report mentions that California is currently conducting an investigation to determine the origins of flights carrying unauthorized migrants arriving in the state. The investigation is exploring the possibility of involvement from Florida and other sources in arranging these flights. This development coincides with the announcement made by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department regarding the recommendation of criminal charges against Florida and Governor Ron DeSantis.

Migrant attorney Rachel Self has publicly advocated for the prosecution of Governor Ron DeSantis and his aides in relation to the flights that occurred in both states. Self’s call for legal action highlights her belief that DeSantis and his team should be held accountable for their alleged involvement in organizing these flights.
