VIDEO: Biden Reacts To Trump’s Ballot Ban
On Wednesday, President Joe Biden journeyed to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to deliver an address at the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce. During this visit, a journalist inquired about the recent decision by the Colorado Supreme Court to prevent Donald Trump from appearing on the 2024 ballot.
The legal dispute aiming to exclude Trump from the 2024 presidential ballot in Colorado, invoking the 14th Amendment, had reached the state’s supreme court earlier in the month. The argument hinges on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which stipulates that public officials involved in insurrection or rebellion against the United States may be disqualified from holding public office.
While Trump has not faced charges related to insurrection or rebellion, President Biden asserted on Wednesday that there is unequivocal evidence of Trump’s support for an insurrection. Biden expressed his confidence in the judicial process, stating, “Whether the 14th Amendment applies, we’ll let the Court make that decision.”
Biden elaborated on his perspective, affirming, “He certainly supported an insurrection. No question about it. None. Zero. He seems to be doubling down on about everything,” referring to Trump’s stance. As he made his way to his motorcade, a reporter queried about his reaction to the Colorado ruling. In response, Biden declined to comment on the ongoing court case, emphasizing, “That’s up to the court.”
Critics have characterized Biden’s stance as evasive, accusing him of delegating contentious matters to associates like Jack Smith and leaning on ideologically aligned justices to handle confrontations with his primary political adversary.
