The president said al-Minuki believed he could evade capture by hiding in Africa, but U.S. intelligence assets closely monitored his activities.
Trump said the these groups will no longer be able to threaten communities across Africa or assist in organizing attacks against Americans, adding that his death has dealt a serious blow to groups worldwide network.
Trump also thanked the Nigerian government for partnering with the United States in the successful mission, concluding his statement with: “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

Abu-Bilal al-Minuki was described by President Trump as ISIS’s global second-in-command, making him one of the most senior leaders in the terrorist organization.
