This is so sad.

If you have been keeping up with the economy then you know that new car dealerships are struggling to keep inventory full and new cars are costing thousands more than the original sticker price.

Furthermore, major car dealerships are fighting to obtain semiconductor chips to produce new cars.

Now, news just got worse for the auto industry and a fire has broken out on a cargo ship holding thousands of vehicles and it appears that they will not be able to put it out.

According to the Washington Examiner, a cargo ship which was traveling from Europe to the United States held thousands of new vehicles and is burning adrift on the Atlantic ocean.

Thankfully all 22 crew members were able to get rescued however there appears to be little they can do for the cars which are slowly burning on the sea.

Both Porsche and Volkswagen have confirmed with news outlets that they had vehicles on the cargo ship.

A Porsche spokeswoman stated, “Our immediate thoughts are of relief that the 22 crew of the merchant ship Felicity Ace are safe and well. A number of our cars are among the cargo. We are in contact with the shipping company and the details of the cars on board are now known.”
