After Kyle Rittenhouse was found innocent on all charges placed against him in court following the unrest in Kenosha. Fundraising website GoFundMe lifted the ban on Rittenhouse’s fundraiser which was aimed at helping him pay off his legal fees and some are furious!

According to the Washington Examiner, GoFundMe said in a statement that after Rittenhouse’s acquittal of murder charges were lifted, he is now allowed to once again use their platform. GoFundMe claims that Rittenhouse’s situation no longer violated their term and conditions.

In their statement the company said, “Once charges for a violent crime were brought against Kyle Rittenhouse in 2020, GoFundMe removed fundraisers that were started for the defendant’s legal defense. We did this as part of our regular monitoring efforts; in addition to those fundraisers, our Trust & Safety team removed hundreds of other fundraisers between August and December 2020 — unrelated to Rittenhouse — that we determined were in violation of this long-standing policy.”

GoFundMe further noted that they will monitor Rittenhouse’s fundraiser to ensure the money is being sent to the correct sources which could slow down the withdrawal process for the parties involved.

Users on Twitter erupted following GoFundMe’s decision to lift the ban on Rittenhouse.
