Here is Trump’s 2026 plan.
President Trump rang in the new year with a message of unity, optimism, and accountability—calling for “peace on Earth” while signaling a renewed push to uncover alleged government waste and abuse tied to welfare programs.
The president and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed guests at the New Year’s Eve celebration at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Florida. Wearing a tuxedo, Trump briefly spoke with reporters outside the ballroom as Melania stood beside him in a striking silver gown.
When asked about his New Year’s resolution, Trump offered a simple but powerful response.
“Peace on Earth,” the president said before heading inside for the evening’s events.
Inside the packed ballroom, Trump addressed supporters and guests, expressing confidence in the country’s direction and momentum.
“We’re back. We’re strong,” he said, drawing enthusiastic applause.
The president also spoke candidly about concerns surrounding government spending and oversight, pointing specifically to allegations of large-scale welfare fraud in Minnesota. Trump suggested the issue reflects broader problems that deserve serious investigation.
“They’re talking about billions already, and that’s only what we’re learning so far,” Trump said, adding that similar issues have been reported in other large states, including California, Illinois, and New York.
Trump emphasized that his administration intends to pursue accountability.
“We’re going to get to the bottom of it,” he said. “The American people deserve honesty and responsibility with their tax dollars.”
The New Year’s Eve gala drew a high-profile crowd, including senior administration officials, political allies, business leaders, and members of the Trump family. The event underscored Trump’s continued influence within Republican circles and among conservative voters nationwide.
The evening also featured a strong charitable focus. Christian artist Vanessa Horabuena performed a live speed-painting of Jesus, which Trump announced would be auctioned to benefit charitable causes.
“These people are very generous,” Trump joked as the bidding began.
The artwork ultimately raised $2.5 million, with proceeds pledged to a local sheriff’s department and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
As the night came to a close, Trump’s New Year’s message was clear: optimism for America’s future, renewed attention on government accountability, and a call for peace, generosity, and unity in the year ahead.
