Democrats are crying about Trump but Americans feel very differently.

Portland, Oregon, once known for its coffee shops and quirky culture, has become a warzone for small business owners — and now they’re turning to President Donald Trump for help.

Local shop owner Amy Nichols says her store has been broken into ten times, and she’s had enough. “We need help here,” Nichols said Tuesday on Fox & Friends First. “If President Trump can send in the National Guard, maybe we can finally get some peace in this city.”

Nichols believes Trump’s decision to keep federal troops on standby could be the lifeline Portland desperately needs. “Something has to change,” she said. “If it takes the president stepping in to make our leaders pay attention, then so be it. We’ve been struggling since 2020 — it’s nearly impossible to do business downtown anymore.”

Another business owner, Loretta Guzman, who runs Bison Coffeehouse, says crime has not only targeted her café — it’s also destroyed her family. After repeated break-ins, she installed bulletproof glass, but the violence hit closer to home when she heard gunfire outside her window.

“My nephew was shot,” Guzman recalled. “When we called 911, no one answered. I tried to save him myself, but he was too heavy to move. He died while I prayed over him. Nobody helped us.”

Her nephew’s killer was never caught. Guzman says she no longer trusts city leadership, adding, “It feels like our leaders have abandoned public safety. We’re on our own.”

While she isn’t sure if Trump’s troops can fix everything, she believes his leadership could restore at least some law and order to a city in chaos. “If federal help makes even one part of Portland safer, that’s already more than what our officials have done,” she said.

Residents say Portland’s decline began when city leaders turned their backs on police and allowed criminals to take over. Now, with homelessness, open drug use, and violent crime at record highs, more locals are pleading with President Trump to step in where Democrats have failed.
