Excuses and lies simply won’t fly in the Trump Administration.
Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville is drawing backlash after claiming, without evidence, that racism was behind the recent arrest of Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ). McIver is facing serious charges for allegedly assaulting federal law enforcement officers outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Newark, New Jersey.
Carville made the explosive claim Tuesday night on MSNBC’s The Beat with Ari Melber, accusing the Trump administration of targeting McIver based on her race. “I think they went after her, and I think her race has something to do with it,” Carville stated. When host Ari Melber asked him to provide proof, Carville admitted, “I don’t have any proof,” but insisted “that’s what they’re about.”
The comments quickly spread across social media, sparking debate. Many critics pointed out that Carville’s baseless accusations only serve to distract from the real issue: a member of Congress allegedly using physical force against federal agents while defending illegal immigration.
White House Fires Back: Law and Order Comes First
White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson responded directly to the controversy, telling Fox News Digital, “No one—regardless of their job title—has the right to assault ICE agents. President Trump is fully committed to securing our borders and defending the brave men and women of law enforcement. If you break the law, you will be held accountable.”
According to official reports, Rep. McIver struck a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agent with her forearm and attempted to restrain him while interfering with immigration enforcement operations. She also reportedly shoved another ICE officer after Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was detained during the same protest.
DOJ and DHS Stand Firm: No One Is Above the Law
Acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba issued a strong statement: “No one is above the law—politicians or otherwise. The Department of Justice is committed to impartial justice for all Americans.”
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem echoed the sentiment in a post on X: “If any individual—regardless of political status—assaults a federal officer, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
McIver had joined two other Democratic lawmakers outside the Delaney Hall detention center under the claim of conducting “congressional oversight,” but authorities say the behavior went far beyond peaceful observation.
GOP Responds: McIver Should Be Expelled
In response to the incident, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) introduced a House resolution on Wednesday to formally expel McIver from Congress, stating that lawmakers must be held to the same legal standards as everyday Americans.
“This is not a matter of politics—it’s a matter of law and order,” Mace said. “If members of Congress are physically attacking law enforcement while protecting criminal illegal aliens, there must be consequences.”
Final Word: Americans Want Accountability
As the Trump administration continues to prioritize border security, the rule of law, and support for ICE and DHS officers, critics say the left’s attempt to inject race into every legal dispute only serves to erode public trust in our institutions.
For hardworking Americans who believe in accountability and justice, this case sends a clear message: no one is above the law—not even members of Congress.
