Democrats Silent On Peace?

Former Congressman Dennis Kucinich, once a presidential candidate and long-time critic of the military-industrial complex, is calling out the Democratic Party for abandoning its principles and enabling reckless defense spending. In a candid interview on Newsmax, Kucinich warned that today’s Democrat leadership has failed to take a meaningful stand for peace—leaving American taxpayers footing the bill for endless foreign conflicts.

“Where is the Democratic leadership on this?” Kucinich asked. “We’re spending half of our discretionary federal budget on war preparations—on weapons, on bombs, on military campaigns that stretch across the globe. That’s over $8 trillion since 9/11. And no one is asking why.”

Kucinich blasted his former party for staying silent as the Pentagon budget ballooned, accusing them of caving to the interests of the defense lobby and ignoring the growing burden on working Americans. He also questioned the party’s credibility, pointing to what many see as misleading narratives about President Joe Biden’s health and fitness to lead.

“This isn’t about left or right,” Kucinich continued. “This is about common sense. The American people deserve leadership that puts peace, fiscal responsibility, and truth first.”

For many conservative voters—especially those over 50—Kucinich’s comments echo a growing sentiment: Washington is out of touch, and both parties have allowed endless wars to drain our nation’s resources while neglecting real needs at home.

As inflation bites and seniors struggle to stretch retirement dollars, the question remains: Why are we spending billions overseas while ignoring urgent problems here at home?
