Democrats Ban Americans From Buying Firearms

Just when you thought the world couldn’t get any crazier, House Democrats just pushed through legislation that would create a federally controlled list of people who have voluntarily agreed to give up their right to purchase guns.

According to Fox, the bill is aimed at preventing gun suicides which Democrats claim have caused over 25,000 deaths each year.

The proposal which was brought forward by Reps. Pramila Jayapal and John Curtis will allow anyone who fears that they may take their own life via a gun the ability to enroll themselves into a list of people who will be blocked from purchasing guns.

Republicans have warned that this bill being pushed by Democrats is just another attempt by the Democrats to slowly move the United States towards a national firearms ban.

Republican Jim Jordan attacked the bill and said, “Do we really need a federal statue to permit a person to volunteer to give up their fundamental liberty? That’s what this bill does.”

“Mental health is important, we all understand that, especially as it relates to suicide, but this … I mean, really? This is what we’re going to do?” Jordan asked Congress.

“I think this again is just another attack from the Democrats on the Second Amendment,” he added.

Republican Tom Massie said that he thinks the bill is dangerous because it could turn an unsuspecting person into a criminal if he or she gifts a gun to someone who is on the list.

“My bill would create a new tool that gives people experiencing the challenging swings of mental health illness to have the power to proactively and voluntarily protect themselves by putting themselves on a do-not-sell list for a firearm,” Democrat Rep. Jayapal said in defense of the bill.
