McCarthy Exposes Crooked Democrats
On Tuesday, Republican House Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy stated to reporters that in his view, the case being constructed by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg against former President Donald Trump is solely driven by political motives. Furthermore, he added that the utilization of “personal money” by Donald Trump should not be grounds for prosecution.
In transcript provided by Newsmax, McCarthy explained, “I think you know in your heart of hearts that this is just political. And I think that’s what the rest of the country thinks. And we’re kind of tired of that. We’re not coming here to defend President Trump, we’re coming to defend equal justice.”
A grand jury was convened by Alvin Bragg in New York to examine potential criminal charges against the ex-president concerning a payment of $130,000 made by his former attorney, Michael Cohen, to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016. The payment was made to prevent her from publicly disclosing an alleged affair she had with the former president several years prior.
Alvin Bragg is nearing a decision on whether to indict Trump in the matter, which, if it were to occur, would be an unprecedented event in U.S. history, as no current or former president has ever been criminally charged before.
It’s an abuse of power and Democrats know it’s an abuse of power but they don’t care. They want to keep Trump off the ballot in 2024.
Bragg is employing a New York statute that pertains to the falsification of business records, typically considered a misdemeanor with a two-year statute of limitations, alongside a conceivable breach of federal campaign finance legislation to broaden the accusation to a felony charge that carries a five-year statute of limitations and could result in a prison sentence of up to four years. It’s an insane move and lawmakers are criticizing Bragg about it but he refuses to back down.
“This was personal money,” McCarthy pointed out.
“This was seven years ago, statute of limitations,” he added.
