Kamala Supports Biden’s Insane New Plan
Vice President Kamala Harris has passionately endorsed President Joe Biden’s proposed changes to the Supreme Court, citing a troubling decline in public trust in the nation’s highest judicial body.
In her recent statement, Harris underscored the historical importance of public confidence in the Supreme Court for upholding justice in the United States. “Throughout our history, the trust the American people place in the Supreme Court has been crucial for ensuring fair and equitable justice,” she remarked. “President Biden and I are deeply committed to restoring this trust, as we face an evident crisis of confidence. Recent ethics controversies and a series of rulings overturning long-standing precedents have cast doubt on the Court’s impartiality.”
Harris’s comments specifically address several contentious decisions made by the Court, including the overturning of Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case and the controversial ruling granting presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for official actions. These decisions, coupled with concerns over Justice Clarence Thomas accepting lavish gifts from billionaire Harlan Crow, have fueled calls for reform.
Harris advocated for a series of reforms aimed at revamping the Court’s operations and restoring public trust. “President Biden and I are urging Congress to implement crucial reforms, such as establishing term limits for justices and enforcing strict ethical guidelines similar to those imposed on other federal judges,” she said. “Moreover, it is essential that no individual, including former presidents, be above the law. This includes addressing legal immunity for crimes committed while in office.”
She framed these reform proposals as broadly supported and essential for reinforcing democratic integrity. “These measures will not only help restore confidence in the Supreme Court but also fortify our democratic institutions and ensure that accountability prevails,” Harris asserted.
President Biden, who recently faced a challenge to his 2024 candidacy from within his party, had previously laid out these reform suggestions. In a Washington Post op-ed, Biden reflected on his extensive experience with Supreme Court nominations. “With my 36 years in the Senate, including extensive work on the Judiciary Committee, I have overseen more Supreme Court nominations than anyone currently living,” he stated. “I deeply respect our democratic institutions and the principle of separation of powers.”
He expressed concern over the current state of the Court, emphasizing that the erosion of public confidence threatens the foundation of justice. “What we are witnessing is unprecedented and undermines the credibility of the Court’s rulings on critical personal freedoms,” Biden warned. “We are facing a significant breach in our judicial system.”
