Trump Family Finds Issue With Rubio
Lara Trump, Chairwoman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, recently indicated she would “seriously consider” stepping in to replace Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) if he vacates his Senate seat following his appointment as Secretary of State. Appearing on Fox News with Maria Bartiromo, Lara Trump discussed her potential interest in representing Florida, a state she now calls home.
“I’ve heard my name mentioned as a potential successor, and while I haven’t been approached directly by Governor Ron DeSantis, I would absolutely consider it,” Lara Trump said, emphasizing the honor of serving both her home state and the nation. She highlighted her experience as RNC Chair, where she’s worked tirelessly to advance conservative values and serve the American people. “If given the opportunity to represent Florida in the Senate, I would take it as both a great responsibility and a tremendous honor,” she added.
The vacancy in Rubio’s seat was triggered after President Trump’s decision to appoint him as Secretary of State, marking a remarkable shift from their past rivalry during the 2016 GOP primary. DeSantis, Florida’s popular Republican governor, will now choose an interim senator to serve until a special election in 2026, when voters will decide who will finish Rubio’s term.
Lara Trump’s comments have sparked speculation about her potential political future, especially considering her significant role in the RNC, where she has worked alongside Chairman Michael Whatley since March. While she hasn’t yet been contacted by DeSantis, she remains open to the possibility of representing Florida and continuing her family’s commitment to public service.
Her willingness to serve in the Senate further reflects her dedication to advancing conservative principles and supporting the agenda of a strong America. As the political landscape evolves, Florida conservatives are sure to be watching closely.
