Trump Says An Open Border Endangers Americans, Is He Right?

Biden Holds Emergency Meeting

Here’s what Americans should know…

President Joe Biden is scheduled to convene with his family this coming Sunday at Camp David to deliberate on the trajectory of his election campaign, according to various sources.

For Biden, a seasoned former U.S. senator and vice president, this moment marks one of the most critical junctures in his extensive political career. The planned gathering, initially intended for a family photograph encompassing children and grandchildren, presents a timely opportunity for a private discourse among those who wield significant influence in Biden’s life. Their pivotal role in his decision to pursue the presidency in 2020 underscores the importance of their counsel at this juncture.

The family rendezvous follows Biden’s recent debate performance against former President Donald Trump, which received substantial criticism. Biden faced challenges during the debate, including a strained voice and meandering responses that reignited concerns about his age.

During their exchanges, Trump criticized Biden’s efficacy both domestically and internationally, making unsubstantiated claims about immigration and crime rates while also targeting Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.

In the days following the debate, calls from donors and supporters urging Biden to step aside have intensified, echoing a similar sentiment voiced by The New York Times editorial board last week. Concurrently, at a fundraising event in East Hampton, New York, some of Biden’s backers displayed signs urging him to withdraw from the race, reflecting broader discussions within the Democratic Party about potential alternatives.

Biden’s debate performance, which spanned just 90 minutes, appears to have triggered the most formidable challenge to his candidacy to date. Despite this, Biden’s campaign has vehemently rebutted these calls, redirecting focus towards the upcoming general election. Biden himself has indicated no intention of halting his campaign.

Addressing his debate struggles during a campaign event in North Carolina on Friday, Biden acknowledged his challenges while emphasizing his commitment to honesty: “Folks, I might not move or speak as smoothly as before, I might not debate as sharply as I used to. But one thing I do know is how to speak the truth,” he asserted in a noticeably more animated speech compared to his debate performance.

Responding to reports about the Camp David meeting to discuss his campaign’s future, White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates clarified that the trip had been scheduled prior to the debate and dismissed any connection between the two events.
