Governor Points The Finger At Kamala
Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) has recently highlighted what he describes as a deeply troubling situation regarding illegal immigration in Virginia, attributing much of the crisis to the policies promoted by Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a striking example of the problems associated with illegal immigration, Youngkin pointed to a disturbing incident involving Enrique Ramirez Cabrera, a suspected illegal immigrant from Peru. Cabrera is accused of kidnapping a young girl in Manassas, Virginia, while masquerading as a police officer. Additionally, Youngkin mentioned other alarming incidents in the state, such as a Salvadoran national in Fairfax County and two illegal immigrants who attempted to breach the gates of Marine Corps Base Quantico using a box truck.
On Fox News’s Hannity, Youngkin expressed his frustration, remarking, “Sean, it’s astonishing that we’re even discussing this. Yet, Kamala Harris, who was supposed to be the border czar, continues to push for policies that effectively decriminalize illegal immigration. This is the current state of our nation.”
The governor further revealed that Virginia’s Department of Corrections is currently housing about 950 illegal immigrants who are under an open immigration detention order. Alarmingly, “nine out of ten” of these individuals have prior arrests for severe crimes such as murder, rape, and assault.
Youngkin called the situation “unbelievable” and voiced his belief that former President Donald Trump would address these issues effectively if re-elected. He asserted that Trump’s leadership would bring the necessary changes to tackle the illegal immigration crisis head-on.
In response to these issues, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares criticized Harris for prioritizing her political agenda over the safety of American citizens, specifically citing the abduction case in Manassas. Miyares argued that such incidents stem from a betrayal of the public’s trust, rather than mere oversight.
As the 2024 election approaches, Governor Youngkin has also taken steps to ensure election integrity. He issued an executive order aimed at safeguarding legal voters and ensuring accurate election counts, well ahead of early voting starting in Virginia on September 20. Similarly, Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) has been active in addressing election integrity in Texas, recently announcing the removal of over 1.1 million “ineligible” voters from the state’s rolls. This effort includes eliminating over 457,000 deceased individuals and over 463,000 from the state’s suspense list.
