Trump Ordered To Stop Attacking Kamala
Michigan’s Republican Senate candidate, Mike Rogers, has advised former President Donald Trump to shift his focus from personal attacks to addressing the pressing issues that matter most to voters. This guidance comes as top Republicans express concern that Trump’s inflammatory remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris are diverting attention from their strategic efforts to define her candidacy.
In a press briefing on Monday, Rogers emphasized the importance of focusing on tangible solutions to everyday concerns such as illegal immigration, crime, and inflation. “The most effective way for us to win is by presenting real-world solutions to the issues that affect Michigan residents directly,” Rogers stated, addressing the recent controversy surrounding Trump’s comments. “These issues are critical and impact every citizen in our state.”
Rogers, who previously served as a congressman and led the House Intelligence Committee, is currently challenging Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) for Michigan’s open Senate seat. The outcome of this race could be pivotal for Senate control and is closely tied to the broader national political climate. Rogers and Trump have supported each other in their campaigns, appearing together at rallies throughout Michigan.
Recently, Trump made headlines with derogatory remarks about Harris at a Pennsylvania rally, labeling her as a “lunatic” and criticizing her appearance and intelligence. Trump defended his approach during a news conference at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club, asserting that he is entitled to such personal attacks due to his lack of respect for Harris.
Rogers attributed part of the media’s focus on Trump’s negative comments to their tendency to spotlight sensational remarks over substantive issues. “If you look at Trump’s recent speeches, the majority focus on key topics like the economy, illegal immigration, and rising costs,” Rogers said. “Unfortunately, today’s media environment tends to amplify the controversial aspects of his message, overshadowing the more important policy discussions.”
Trump is scheduled to visit Howell, Michigan, on Tuesday to address issues related to crime and public safety. This visit is part of his broader campaign efforts to counter the Democratic National Convention, where Harris will officially accept her party’s nomination. Despite criticism from Harris’s campaign and Democrats, who have linked the visit to a recent rally by white supremacists in Howell, Rogers dismissed these accusations. He highlighted a recent case involving an illegal immigrant convicted of sexual misconduct, arguing that focusing on such crimes is crucial for community safety.
Rogers firmly rejected the notion that Trump’s visit or the town’s past associations with racism should detract from addressing substantive issues. “It’s absurd to let a few extremists define an entire community,” Rogers asserted. “The real issue is ensuring that we address the challenges facing our nation, and I support Trump’s efforts to highlight these critical concerns.”
