Trump Snubs Top Republican Ally
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) recently shared his thoughts on the speculation surrounding his potential role in President-elect Trump’s upcoming administration. During an appearance on CNN’s Laura Coates Live, Donalds was asked whether he was surprised that he had not been chosen for a senior position or Cabinet role.
In response, Donalds, a strong Trump ally and advocate, made it clear that he was not surprised by the decision. “I’m not surprised that I have not been named,” he said. “But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to do other things in the future.” This statement suggests that while Donalds is not part of Trump’s immediate plans, he remains focused on future opportunities to serve his country.
When Coates inquired if Trump had personally asked him to serve in any capacity, Donalds replied, “No.” Instead, he emphasized that he is considering other avenues moving forward. Known for his outspoken support of Trump, Donalds has consistently been a reliable voice for conservative values and was even mentioned as a potential running mate for the President before the election. This fall, he actively campaigned for Trump, with particular focus on increasing Trump’s support among Black male voters, holding rallies in key battleground states like Pennsylvania.
As President Trump prepares to unveil a Cabinet filled with loyal allies, including former Fox News host Pete Hegseth and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, the future of key positions remains a subject of intense speculation. Additionally, Florida’s political landscape is shifting with the potential appointment of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) as Secretary of State, leaving a vacancy in the Senate. Governor Ron DeSantis has indicated that a decision on Rubio’s replacement is likely to come in early January.
Asked if he would be interested in filling that Senate seat, Donalds responded, “We’ll see what happens going forward,” keeping his options open for future political roles.
