Biden’s Final Approval Rating
As President Joe Biden approaches the end of his term, his approval rating has hit a new low, reflecting a troubling year for his administration. A recent CNN poll released on Wednesday shows that only 36 percent of Americans approve of how Biden has handled his presidency. This matches the lowest approval rating of his time in office, which also stood at 36 percent in June of last year.
Biden’s final year in office has been marred by a series of political missteps and controversies. His lackluster debate performance, which led to his eventual withdrawal from the 2024 race, raised serious concerns about his ability to lead the nation moving forward. Throughout the year, Biden has faced growing criticism over his age and mental sharpness, issues that have dominated conversations about his fitness for office. Additionally, his son Hunter Biden’s legal troubles have only added fuel to the fire, with many questioning the integrity of the Biden family and the administration’s handling of those issues.
In contrast, a staggering 64 percent of Americans in the CNN poll disapprove of Biden’s performance, matching the highest disapproval rating he received in June of last year. This stark division between support and opposition highlights the deep dissatisfaction felt by a large portion of the American public as Biden’s presidency comes to a close.
With President-elect Donald Trump set to be inaugurated next Monday, the Biden era will soon be over. A Gallup survey from earlier this month revealed that 51 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the presidential transition, signaling a shift in public sentiment. The CNN poll, conducted from January 9 to 12 with 1,205 participants and a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points, underscores the challenges Biden faces as his presidency winds down.
