Should Trump Stop Personal Attacks On Kamala Like GOP Says?

Trump Targeting Key Battleground States

As the Democratic National Convention gears up to showcase Vice President Kamala Harris’s candidacy for the presidency, former President Donald Trump’s campaign is taking proactive steps to challenge the Democrats’ narrative and make a strong case for his own bid for the White House.

Trump’s campaign has unveiled a robust schedule of events designed to underscore key issues central to their platform: the economy, crime, national security, and immigration. This strategy aims to present a stark contrast to the Democrats’ messaging during the convention in Chicago.

Starting Monday, Trump will be in York, Pennsylvania, focusing on economic issues, while his running mate, Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), will address the same topic in Philadelphia. The campaign’s effort to spotlight their policy proposals continues with a series of events on Tuesday, where Trump will tackle crime in Detroit, Michigan, and Vance will speak on the issue in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

On Wednesday, both Trump and Vance will shift their focus to national security, with Trump holding an event in North Carolina. The following day, they will each lead separate events on immigration; Trump will be in Montezuma Pass, Arizona, and Vance will be in Valdosta, Georgia.

The week concludes with Trump hosting two events on Friday—one in Glendale, Arizona, and another in Las Vegas, Nevada, to promote his “no tax on tips” proposal.

The Trump campaign emphasizes that these events are meant to counter the Democratic narrative at the convention, asserting that Harris’s campaign will likely rely on high-profile endorsements rather than addressing substantive issues. According to senior Trump advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, “President Trump and Senator Vance are meeting voters where it counts—in the key battleground states—to demonstrate how their leadership can curb inflation, enhance public safety, secure the border, and ultimately Make America Great Again.”

Additionally, Trump’s campaign plans to hold press conferences in Chicago throughout the Democratic National Convention. These press events are intended to keep the focus on Trump’s vision and policies while the DNC unfolds, aiming to close any polling gaps that have emerged as Harris’s campaign gains traction.

The Democratic National Convention will kick off on Monday in Chicago, with Vice President Harris set to accept the party’s nomination in a high-profile speech on Thursday. The convention will also feature speeches from President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, and former President Bill Clinton.
