Lindsey Graham’s Recommendation To Trump

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) recently praised Scott Bessent, the founder of Key Square Group, as an “outstanding” candidate for Treasury Secretary in President-elect Donald Trump’s second administration. Graham, who knows Bessent personally, emphasized his qualifications and experience, noting that Bessent is highly capable and well-vetted for the role.

“Scott is from South Carolina, and I know him well. He would be an exceptional choice for Treasury Secretary,” Graham said in an interview with Semafor. “He’s got the right qualifications and the experience needed for this critical position.”

Bessent, a seasoned hedge fund manager and economic adviser during Trump’s 2016 campaign, is said to be among the top contenders for the Treasury post. Alongside Howard Lutnick, the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, Bessent has emerged as a leading figure to lead the Department of the Treasury under a second Trump administration.

Both Graham and Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) have expressed their confidence in Bessent’s abilities, describing him as highly capable and in line with the economic priorities of the Trump administration.

Bessent has been a strong advocate for Trump’s policies on energy independence, deregulation, and economic growth. He has frequently criticized the economic proposals of Vice President Kamala Harris and has voiced his support for Trump’s America-first trade policies. His background in both financial markets and policy makes him well-suited for the challenges facing the U.S. economy, particularly as it navigates a rapidly changing global landscape.

As Trump prepares to make key decisions about his cabinet, sources close to the transition team indicate that Bessent is a front-runner for the role. The president-elect is reportedly scheduled to interview Bessent soon, signaling that the Treasury post could be one of the first major appointments of his second term.

Trump is expected to announce his final selections for his cabinet in the coming weeks, with many in Washington eager to see who will fill the critical positions in his administration.
