Biden’s Son Sues Trump Team
Biden’s son has initiated legal action against a former Trump White House aide, alleging his involvement in the dissemination of a substantial volume of emails, photos, videos, and recordings belonging to him. According to ABC News, the lawsuit targets Garrett Ziegler, a former aide to White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, for allegedly engaging in unauthorized activities involving computer data, thereby violating the state’s computer fraud laws. This data was originally stored on Hunter’s well-known laptop, which was left at a Delaware repair shop.
According to Newsmax, although there was initial controversy surrounding the authenticity of the laptop, with claims of Russian disinformation emerging just before the 2020 election, various media outlets, including the Washington Examiner, the Washington Post, and the New York Times, subsequently confirmed its authenticity.
The lawsuit outlines how Ziegler, along with 10 other unidentified defendants, purportedly acquired Hunter’s data and proceeded to distribute tens of thousands of emails, thousands of photos, and dozens of videos and recordings on the internet, as reported by ABC News. Hunter is now seeking a jury trial to determine appropriate damages and an injunction to prevent Ziegler from further accessing or tampering with his data.
Hunter’s attorneys, as cited by ABC News, assert that while Ziegler is entitled to his extreme opinions, he has no right to engage in illegal activities to promote his right-wing agenda, which is precisely what Ziegler and his self-proclaimed “nonprofit research group” are accused of doing.
The lawsuit also mentions that Ziegler openly discussed these alleged illegal activities in interviews with media outlets, on social media platforms, and on right-wing podcasts.
Notably, this legal action comes shortly after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the initiation of a House committee’s impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden regarding his family’s business dealings.
Additionally, it should be noted that a potential plea deal between Hunter and the Justice Department fell through last month due to an inability to finalize the agreement. Hunter has pleaded not guilty to charges of failing to pay taxes on over $1.5 million in income for the years 2017 and 2018, despite owing more than $100,000 in taxes. He may also face a gun-related charge.
