Should Republicans Defund Biden’s DOJ?

McConnell Trashes Trump Over Failure

Weeks after the midterm elections, Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is once again attacking former President Donald Trump and blaming him for the elections which didn’t go as expected for the GOP.

According to The Hill, McConnell bashed Trump for exerting his will on the GOP primaries by pushing candidates who lacked “quality” and ended up losing costing the Republicans control of the Senate.

“I never said there was a red wave, I said we had a bunch of close races,” McConnell told reporters in an angry tone.

McConnell then targeted Trump and said, “We ended up having a candidate quality [issue,]. Look at Arizona, look at New Hampshire, and a challenging situation in Georgia as well.”

“Hopefully in the next cycle, we’ll have quality candidates everywhere and a better outcome,” McConnell later added.

A lot of Republican lawmakers believe that McConnell didn’t do as much as he could have to help the Trump-endorsed candidates because he was angry at the former President for picking the candidates he wanted over McConnell’s preference.

McConnell also was being very selective over how campaign finances were being spent and many can say that the blame rests on him for letting Republican candidates fail over his ego war with Donald Trump.
