Is President Biden Corrupt?

Republicans Give New Nickname To Elon Musk

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) recently commented that it feels as though tech mogul Elon Musk has become the de facto leader of the United States, comparing his influence to that of a prime minister. Gonzales made the remark during an appearance on CBS’s Face the Nation, where he discussed the shifting dynamics in American politics, particularly regarding the role of Musk in government matters.

During the interview, host Margaret Brennan asked Gonzales about the evolving relationship between key Republican figures, including President Trump, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.). Gonzales responded, noting that while the U.S. has a President, Vice President, and Speaker of the House, it feels as if Musk’s influence in Washington has surpassed traditional political figures: “It feels like as if Elon Musk is our prime minister.”

Musk, who recently took on a leadership role in Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency,” has been vocal about his opposition to excessive government spending. He played a central role in the push against a bipartisan funding bill that was being negotiated in Congress. Musk publicly urged lawmakers to vote out those who supported the original bill, which he, along with many conservatives, criticized for its excessive spending.

As the owner of X (formerly Twitter), Musk used his platform to rally against the bill, even calling for Speaker Johnson to reconsider the deal. His outspoken opposition was influential in pushing Congress to revise the spending package, which narrowly passed just before the government shutdown deadline.

Gonzales, who said he spoke to Musk several times last week, praised the billionaire for being a powerful voice in the debate over government spending. “He has a voice, and I think a large part of that voice is a reflection of the voice of the people,” Gonzales explained. He also criticized the original spending proposal, calling it a prime example of what’s wrong with Congress and emphasizing the need for a return to “regular order” in legislative processes.

Musk’s growing role in American politics reflects the increasing influence of business leaders in shaping public policy, particularly on issues like fiscal responsibility. For many conservatives, Musk’s willingness to challenge the political establishment is seen as a refreshing change from the status quo in Washington.
