Trump Trashes CNN Host
In a recent appearance on the “PDP Podcast” hosted by Patrick Bet-David, former President Donald Trump expressed his strong discontent with CNN commentator Van Jones, particularly regarding their past interactions during criminal justice reform discussions. Trump emphasized the importance of loyalty, especially when one reaches out for help.
Reflecting on his efforts to pass the bipartisan First Step Act in 2018, Trump recalled how Jones approached him for support on criminal justice reform, stating, “He made a plea to me to help him and this group of people.” Trump believed he could help Jones, as he was rallying Republican senators—even those initially opposed to reform—to secure the necessary votes for the bill.
However, Trump was taken aback by Jones’s behavior following the successful vote. “That night, they called for a news conference,” he recounted. Wanting to show his wife, Melania, that someone was publicly praising him, Trump had her join him to watch. He anticipated that Jones would acknowledge his role in the legislation but was left disappointed.
During the news conference, Jones thanked numerous people for their contributions but notably failed to mention Trump. “He thanked this one, that one, everyone else—but not me,” Trump lamented, describing the moment as “disgraceful.” Despite Jones having thanked Trump on other occasions, the former president dismissed these acknowledgments as insincere.
“A real man would not have done that,” Trump asserted, emphasizing that true integrity involves recognizing help received. His critique of Jones resonated with many conservatives who value loyalty and accountability in leadership. As Trump continues to influence the Republican Party, moments like this serve as a reminder of the expectations placed on public figures regarding gratitude and allegiance.
