Christians Accuse Trump Of What?

Evangelical figures who were once one of Trump’s biggest supporters are now turning away from the former President after he announced this third run for the presidency.

According to the Huffington Post, Mike Evans who was part of a group of evangelicals that met Trump at the White House to give him an award turned on him and said, “Donald Trump can’t save America. He can’t even save himself.”

Evans then said, “He used us to win the White House. We had to close our mouths and eyes when he said things that horrified us. I cannot do that anymore.”

Another Evangelical, Robert Jeffress, who was Trump’s evangelical advisers during the 2016 campaign said, “The Republican Party is headed toward a civil war that I have no desire or need to be part of.”

Jeffress later added that he would gladly support Trump again if he was to win the GOP nomination.

Jeffress also showed signs of standing in solidarity with Mike Pence and even wrote on social media, “Mike Pence is a great friend, a committed Christian, and a true American hero. Get his new book SO HELP ME GOD that is out today.”

Jeffress also wrote on social media that he considers Trump “a great friend and our greatest president since Reagan.”

James Robison who also advised Trump on faith issues stated, “If Mr. Trump can’t stop his little petty issues, how does he expect people to stop major issues?”

It’s currently unclear where Evangelicals stand with Trump. Only time will tell if Trump is able to win them over again or not.
