One Democrat Refusing To Call Trump A Fascist
In a recent interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) expressed his views on former President Donald Trump, labeling him as an “authoritarian.” While he refrained from using the term “fascist,” Sanders underscored his concerns about Trump’s influence on American democracy.
“I hesitate to use those extreme labels,” Sanders admitted, “but there is no denying Trump’s authoritarian tendencies, which threaten the core principles of our democracy.” He pointed to the events of January 6, 2021, as a stark example, arguing that Trump’s actions during that time aimed to disrupt the first peaceful transfer of power in U.S. history. “The real question is: Does he truly believe in democracy or the rule of law?” Sanders questioned.
Sanders also highlighted the notable absence of support for Trump from various established Republicans, suggesting that their refusal to back him stems from a recognition of his authoritarian nature. “Consider Mike Pence, Trump’s vice president for four years, who has distanced himself from Trump. Mitt Romney, the 2012 GOP nominee, has also voiced his disapproval. Their decisions go beyond mere policy disagreements; they stem from a fundamental belief that Trump is unfit for the presidency,” he stated.
In contrast, Vice President Kamala Harris has echoed similar sentiments, suggesting in a CNN town hall that she views Trump as embodying fascist traits, although she stopped short of using the label directly. Sanders also reflected on remarks from retired General John Kelly and former Joint Chiefs of Staff chair General Mark Milley, both of whom have called Trump a “fascist.”
Sanders concluded by stressing that while terms like “authoritarian” or “fascist” may resonate, the focus should remain on the implications of Trump’s leadership for working-class Americans. “Ultimately, it’s about the real struggles faced by the American people, and how leadership affects their daily lives,” he said, calling for a return to principles that uplift democracy and equality.
Talk about INCOMPETENCE..”heels-up” is about as BRAIN-DEAD and incompetent as you could ever get.
BTW, people do not seem to realize (or care) that she is NOT and NEVER WAS, constitutionally eligible to BE “VP” or POTUS.
She is an “ANCHOR BABY”, born to two foreign exchange students, (one of which) was here on an expired student visa (mother) and “heels-up” was also raised in CANADA.
BTW, she was “installed” as a nominee. NOT voted in as it should be. Typical DEMOCOMMUNIST “tactics” in order to shove another easily controlled, communist “puppet” down the throats of the BRAINWASHED, GULLIBLE, “gaslighted”, DEMOCOMMUNIST VOTING, SHEEP.
