Is Kamala's VP A Patriot Like Democrats Say?

Gavin Newsom Trolls Trump

Former President Donald Trump has ignited a new round of debate by taking aim at Vice President Kamala Harris during a recent visit to the U.S.-Mexico border. Speaking from a site littered with unused border wall materials, Trump criticized Harris’s handling of illegal immigration, branding her as someone who would be ineffective in enforcing border security.

Trump’s remarks came as a preemptive strike against Harris’s upcoming keynote address at the Democratic National Convention. During his appearance in Cochise County, Arizona, Trump didn’t hold back, accusing Harris—who previously served as San Francisco’s district attorney and California’s attorney general—of having a Marxist agenda and suggesting that she would never support the construction of the border wall.

The former president’s critique wasn’t limited to immigration policy. He also targeted Harris’s track record in California, which caught the attention of California Governor Gavin Newsom. Trump highlighted the deterioration of San Francisco under Harris’s watch, stating, “Look at California. You cannot even go to San Francisco. It’s isn’t even livable. 15 years ago, it was the best city in the world. And now, you can’t do anything. Look at what she’s done, and now she’s going to be president and do the exact same thing.”

In response, Newsom, who was San Francisco’s mayor when Harris was the district attorney, took to social media to poke fun at Trump’s comments. Sharing a clip of Trump’s remarks, Newsom quipped, “The mayor of San Francisco 15 years ago was Gavin Newsom, and the DA was Kamala Harris.” He added, “Thanks, @realDonaldTrump!!”

Trump also brought former San Francisco resident Amanda Kiefer to his border event to bolster his argument. Kiefer, who had a harrowing experience under Harris’s jurisdiction, recounted being violently attacked by an illegal alien who was released under Harris’s “Back on Track” initiative. Trump used Kiefer’s story to underscore his point about Harris’s failed policies and how they contributed to a perceived lack of safety.

Harris has acknowledged flaws in her “Back on Track” program, which was designed to offer rehabilitation opportunities to criminals. Despite her admission of shortcomings, Newsom has defended Harris’s record, asserting that she has a solid history of achievements. The governor, who was once considered a leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination before endorsing Harris, has fiercely criticized Trump’s rhetoric and compared him unfavorably to historical tyrants.

As the political landscape heats up, it’s clear that Trump and Newsom will continue to clash over Harris’s record and their respective visions for the future of the country.
