Jon Stewart Says Biden Too Old To Be President, Is He Right?

Judge Promises To Jail Trump?

What an absolutely insane thing for a judge to say…

In a recent development, Judge Juan Merchan made it clear that he’s contemplating a harsher penalty for former President Trump if he persists in flouting the gag order imposed on him during his ongoing criminal trial. This unprecedented move follows Merchan’s initial imposition of a gag order on Trump at the trial’s outset, prohibiting him from making public statements or directing others to do so concerning witnesses, counsels other than Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, court and DA staff, and their family members.

According to prosecutors, Trump has allegedly breached the gag order on multiple occasions, resulting in fines totaling $9,000. Despite these penalties, Merchan fined Trump an additional $1,000 for yet another violation, indicating that the financial penalties alone are ineffective deterrents.

In a stern warning, Merchan conveyed that further transgressions could lead to more severe consequences, including imprisonment. Expressing reluctance at the prospect of incarceration, Merchan acknowledged Trump’s status as a former and potential future president but emphasized the gravity of his repeated defiance. He noted concerns about the implications of such a decision, particularly given Trump’s Secret Service protection.

Merchan made light of the seriousness of Trump’s actions, characterizing them as a direct affront to the court and asserting that such behavior cannot be tolerated. Trump and his legal team have contended that the gag order infringes upon his First Amendment rights and those of his supporters. However, Merchan’s stance makes light of the court’s commitment to upholding its orders and ensuring a fair trial.

Moving forward, Merchan’s remarks signal a potential escalation in the consequences for Trump’s non-compliance, reflecting the court’s determination to enforce its directives and maintain order in the proceedings.
