In a recent TV segment, ex-Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) equated the significance of opposing Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-Ohio) Speaker nomination to the courage required to confront the Capitol’s Jan. 6 siege.

“Rejecting Jordan’s bid is nearly on par with the resolve needed to counter the Jan. 6 chaos,” Kinzinger conveyed during a chat with CNN’s Dana Bash, just before the Speaker’s initial voting round.

“From personal experience, I chose to sacrifice my political future for what’s ethical — and it’s absolutely worth it,” Kinzinger reflected during the conversation. “We all enter Congress with grand promises of integrity and independence, yet the mere dread of a primary challenge often drives members to abandon those principles.”
