Who Is The Greatest First Lady: Melania Trump Or Michelle Obama?

Massie Attacks Speaker Johnson

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) has openly criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), arguing that Johnson is not fit for a second term in leadership and could cost the GOP its majority in the 2026 elections if reelected. Massie, known for his conservative stance, took to the social media platform X on Tuesday to express his discontent, responding to former Speaker Newt Gingrich’s remarks that Republicans opposing Johnson were aligning with Democrats.

Gingrich had labeled those opposing Johnson as essentially “allies of Democrats,” prompting Massie to defend his position by pointing out what he sees as Johnson’s leadership failures. Massie emphasized that Republicans need a Speaker who can not only unite the party but also communicate effectively with the public and the media to maintain the majority. He argued that Johnson’s past performance, particularly his role in nearly leading the party to the minority in what should have been a strong year for Republicans under President Trump, made him unsuitable for the Speaker role moving forward.

“Johnson failed to secure the majority even in a banner year for Trump, and I’m convinced he’ll lose it for us again in 2026,” Massie declared, making it clear that he believes a change in leadership is necessary for the GOP’s long-term success.

Massie also rejected the idea that Johnson was the only viable choice for Speaker, calling it “somewhat ridiculous.” He argued that Johnson was only elected the first time because he hadn’t held any significant leadership role or taken a controversial stance—essentially, he was the least objectionable option. But Massie claims Johnson has now lost that status, especially after his failure to pass key legislative measures like the latest continuing resolution.

Massie’s criticism underscores growing concern among some GOP members over Johnson’s ability to lead. With the Speaker vote approaching, Johnson’s future as Speaker hinges on the support—or lack thereof—from his colleagues. His leadership will be put to the test in the coming days, with his tenure potentially on the line.
