Jimmy Carter Voting For Kamala?

Despite his frailty observed at the memorial service for his wife Rosalynn last November, former President Jimmy Carter remains steadfast in his intention to cast his vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.

Jimmy Carter, who is set to reach the milestone age of 100 on October 1, expressed his determination to vote through his son Chip, as relayed by his grandson Jason. In a recent conversation, Carter shared his hope of being able to participate in the voting process, emphasizing his desire to support Harris.

According to Jason Carter, a former Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Georgia, his grandfather was notably engaged and focused on political matters, including the situation in Gaza, when he last spoke with Chip. This enthusiasm was apparent even during the memorial service for Rosalynn Carter at Glenn Memorial Church in Atlanta, where pro-Gaza protests were held outside. The service was notably attended by President Joe Biden, along with former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, as well as all the living first ladies, including Melania Trump.

As early voting approaches in Georgia, beginning October 15, Democrats are hopeful that Harris will be able to replicate the success achieved by Biden, who narrowly won the state by approximately 12,000 votes in the last election.

Jimmy Carter, the longest-living former president in U.S. history, has been in hospice care since February 2023 in Plains, Georgia, having chosen to forgo further medical treatments for a terminal illness. He has requested that President Biden deliver a eulogy at his funeral when the time arrives.

In celebration of Carter’s upcoming centenary, a special concert is scheduled for September 17 at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre. The event will benefit the Carter Center, his esteemed non-profit organization dedicated to various humanitarian causes.
